Resolution

To enroll for a Managed PKI, Managed PKI for SSL, or Managed PKI for SSL (Premium Edition) certificate, follow these steps.

Step 1: Determine the Enrollment URL

The first step in obtaining a Managed PKI, Managed PKI for SSL, or Managed PKI for SSL (Premium Edition) certificate, is to determine the enrollment page URL where your end-users will go to enroll. If your Managed PKI, Managed PKI for SSL, or Managed PKI for SSL (Premium Edition) service is VeriSign-hosted, you can confirm the URL of your subscribers' Digital ID page from the Control Center as described in solution SO1098

Step 2: Enroll for a Certificate

Managed PKI
  1. Go to the enrollment page as described in Step 1.

  2. Click Enroll.

  3. Enter your first name, last name, and e-mail address.

  4. Enter a challenge phrase. The challenge phrase is a word or phrase that you will use if you need to revoke or renew your Digital ID.

  5. Click Submit.

  6. The certificate should install automatically if using Automated Administration.

Step 3: Approve the Certificate Request
  1. The first step in requesting an SSL ID is to create a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) from your Web server.

For instructions on generating a CSR, go to http://www.verisign.com/support/csr/index.html.

  2. Go to the enrollment page as described in Step 1.

  3. Select the Certificate Type if you have multiple SSL certificates and click the Go button.

  4. Copy and paste the CSR in the text box.

  5. Enter your first name, last name, e-mail address, and any other required information.

  6. Select the server type of your Web server.

  7. Select a 1-year or 2-year validity period of the certificate.

  8. Enter a challenge phrase. The challenge phrase is a word or phrase that you will use if you need to revoke or renew your SSL ID.

  9. Select the number of licenses if you wish to secure multiple servers with one certificate.

  10. Click Accept.
Once the certificate request has been sent, the Managed PKI Administrator must approve the request. Once the request has been approved, the certificate will be e-mailed to the applicant. For additional information about processing certificate requests, see solution SO7018.
